Independent Contractor: Child Care Licensing Project

This is a remote position.

This role is an independent contractor engagement and does not constitute an employment relationship with Child Care Aware® of America. The individual engaged will not be eligible for employee benefits and will be responsible for all applicable taxes and withholdings.

Total Compensation: $30,000 (fixed fee)

Child Care Aware® of America (CCAoA), our nation’s leading voice for child care, works with state and local Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agencies to ensure that families in every community have access to quality, affordable child care.

Summary of Position: The Contractor will independently conduct an examination and benchmarking of a subset of state licensing standards (between 8-10 states). In particular, the contractor will compare:

1. The requirements for licensing exemption

2. State licensing regulations

3. QRIS standards for a set of quality benchmarks.

The contractor will do this work using a rubric provided by CCAoA upon contract commencement. 

Deliverable: A completed rubric for each of the relevant states.

Required Qualifications:

• Three to five years of research experience.
• Proven experience in data collection.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Strength in meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous research experience in the child care /early education field; familiarity with child care regulations.
